Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Shipbuilding, Glass and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.59% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (T:3099), which rose 5.36% or 63.0 points to trade at 1238.0 at the close. Meanwhile, SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) added 4.87% or 61.0 points to end at 1313.0 and Mitsumi Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6767) was up 4.79% or 30.0 points to 656.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Konami Corp. (T:9766), which fell 6.93% or 290.0 points to trade at 3895.0 at the close. Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366) declined 3.28% or 28.0 points to end at 825.0 and Astellas Pharma Inc. (T:4503) was down 3.06% or 49.3 points to 1563.2.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2093 to 888 and 348 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.61% to 19.51.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.92% or 0.42 to $45.00 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.65% or 0.30 to hit $46.19 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.73% or 8.90 to trade at $1208.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.50% to 110.67, while EUR/JPY rose 0.23% to 117.27.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.31% at 101.31.
