Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Chemicals and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 added 4.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which rose 11.77% or 0.0615 points to trade at 0.5840 at the close. Meanwhile, Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII) added 11.47% or 0.496 points to end at 4.822 and Unicredit (MI:CRDI) was up 10.60% or 0.3160 points to 3.2980 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Terna (MI:TRN), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to trade at 5.050 at the close. Atlantia (MI:ATL) added 0.37% or 0.09 points to end at 24.29 and Buzzi Unicem (MI:BZU) was up 0.38% or 0.06 points to 15.68.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 333 to 72 and 15 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.90% or 0.38 to $41.79 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.94% or 0.42 to hit $44.27 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 1.09% or 13.80 to trade at $1247.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.82% to 1.1290, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.7942.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.72% at 94.70.
