Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 rose 2.29%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Saipem (MI:SPMI), which rose 9.61% or 0.0372 points to trade at 0.4241 at the close. Meanwhile, Tenaris (MI:TENR) added 6.58% or 0.93 points to end at 15.07 and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) was up 5.68% or 1.1500 points to 21.4000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yoox Net-A-Porter Group SpA (MI:YNAP), which fell 2.26% or 0.59 points to trade at 25.52 at the close. Ferrari NV (MI:RACE) declined 0.29% or 0.15 points to end at 51.70 and UBI Banca (MI:UBI) was down 0.19% or 0.0040 points to 2.1080.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 299 to 102 and 25 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tenaris (MI:TENR) rose to 52-week highs; up 6.58% or 0.93 to 15.07.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 8.53% or 3.86 to $49.09 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 8.94% or 4.23 to hit $51.55 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 1.24% or 14.75 to trade at $1176.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.54% to 1.0592, while EUR/GBP fell 0.57% to 0.8476.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.59% at 101.58.
