Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Telecoms and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB gained 0.75%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Mediolanum (MILAN:MED), which rose 5.15% or 0.375 points to trade at 7.660 at the close. Meanwhile, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (MILAN:FCHA) added 3.78% or 0.540 points to end at 14.840 and Mediaset (MILAN:MS) was up 3.29% or 0.152 points to 4.766 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which fell 1.39% or 0.11 points to trade at 7.83 at the close. Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MILAN:BMPS) declined 1.22% or 0.0220 points to end at 1.7840 and Tenaris (MILAN:TENR) was down 0.78% or 0.09 points to 11.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 306 to 149 and 5 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 3.84% or 1.81 to $45.31 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 4.66% or 2.44 to hit $49.77 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.47% or 5.20 to trade at $1089.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.30% to 1.0951, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.7026.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 97.59.
