Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Basic Resources and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 4.74%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which rose 27.07% or 0.049 points to trade at 0.230 at the close. Meanwhile, Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) added 18.67% or 0.118 points to end at 0.750 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was up 18.18% or 0.04 points to 0.26 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Frigoglass (AT:FRIr), which fell 20.00% or 0.06 points to trade at 0.23 at the close. Iaso (AT:IASr) declined 4.47% or 0.022 points to end at 0.510 and Halcor (AT:XAKO) was down 4.17% or 0.010 points to 0.230.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 71 to 27 and 12 ended unchanged.
Shares in Frigoglass (AT:FRIr) fell to all time lows; losing 20.00% or 0.06 to 0.23.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.37% or 4.50 to $1231.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 3.06% or 1.27 to hit $40.23 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.90% or 1.27 to trade at $42.57 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.1289, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.7957.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 94.71.
