Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Banking and Basic Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 4.71%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr), which rose 12.58% or 0.190 points to trade at 1.700 at the close. Meanwhile, Halcor (AT:XAKO) added 10.00% or 0.027 points to end at 0.297 and Thrace Plastic (AT:THRr) was up 9.38% or 0.120 points to 1.400 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which fell 7.89% or 0.009 points to trade at 0.105 at the close. Korres (AT:KRRr) declined 3.27% or 0.110 points to end at 3.250 and Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) was down 2.95% or 0.020 points to 0.658.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 79 to 23 and 12 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.74% or 9.85 to $1314.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.30% or 0.60 to hit $46.93 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.13% or 0.54 to trade at $48.31 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.19% to 1.1046, while EUR/GBP fell 0.54% to 0.8290.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 96.38.
