Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Utilities and Basic Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 1.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr), which rose 9.76% or 0.041 points to trade at 0.461 at the close. Meanwhile, Halcor (AT:XAKO) added 5.38% or 0.027 points to end at 0.529 and Quest Holdings (AT:IQTr) was up 4.95% or 0.330 points to 7.000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Athens Medical (AT:AMCr), which fell 7.72% or 0.047 points to trade at 0.562 at the close. Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) declined 5.33% or 0.0090 points to end at 0.1600 and Profile Syst (AT:PRFr) was down 2.37% or 0.012 points to 0.494.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 67 to 36 and 12 ended unchanged.
Shares in Halcor (AT:XAKO) rose to 52-week highs; up 5.38% or 0.027 to 0.529. Shares in Quest Holdings (AT:IQTr) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 4.95% or 0.330 to 7.000.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.21% or 2.55 to $1213.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.19% or 0.63 to hit $53.38 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.52 to trade at $55.75 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.0754, while EUR/GBP rose 0.05% to 0.8592.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 100.07.
