Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Personal Goods, Consumer Goods and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.63% to hit a new 3-months low, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.62%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were AXA SA (PARIS:AXAF), which rose 0.13% or 0.03 points to trade at 22.63 at the close. Meanwhile, Valeo (PARIS:VLOF) fell 0.25% or 0.35 points to end at 141.35 and Societe Generale (PARIS:SOGN) was down 0.52% or 0.22 points to 41.87 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PARIS:LVMH), which fell 3.94% or 6.45 points to trade at 157.15 at the close. Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) declined 3.17% or 0.29 points to end at 8.73 and Total SA (PARIS:TOTF) was down 2.40% or 1.07 points to 43.57.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Adocia (PARIS:ADOC) which rose 4.98% to 67.190, Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which was up 2.32% to settle at 34.840 and Innate Pharma (PARIS:IPH) which gained 1.23% to close at 13.140.
The worst performers were Hermes International SCA (PARIS:HRMS) which was down 4.94% to 334.60 in late trade, Numericable Pr (PARIS:NUME) which lost 4.02% to settle at 47.545 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PARIS:LVMH) which was down 3.94% to 157.15 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 524 to 274 and 59 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.61% to 31.26 a new 52-week high.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.36% or 4.30 to $1174.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.10% or 0.64 to hit $58.97 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.94% or 1.21 to trade at $63.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.79% to 1.1147, while EUR/GBP fell 0.67% to 0.7093.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.61% at 95.65.
