Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Consumer Services and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.59%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.54%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Danone SA (PA:DANO), which rose 3.39% or 2.23 points to trade at 67.93 at the close. Meanwhile, Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) added 2.98% or 2.46 points to end at 85.11 and Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) was up 2.02% or 1.16 points to 58.52 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which fell 5.49% or 1.30 points to trade at 22.40 at the close. Renault SA (PA:RENA) declined 4.34% or 3.45 points to end at 76.13 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) was down 2.75% or 0.38 points to 13.27.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ipsen (PA:IPN) which rose 6.68% to 59.44, Euronext (PA:ENX) which was up 6.35% to settle at 38.25 and Aperam (AS:APAM) which gained 6.03% to close at 36.90.
The worst performers were Technicolor (PA:TCH) which was down 7.02% to 5.670 in late trade, CNP Assurances (PA:CNPP) which lost 6.26% to settle at 13.555 and Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) which was down 5.49% to 22.40 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 377 to 277 and 120 ended unchanged.
Shares in Danone SA (PA:DANO) rose to all time highs; rising 3.39% or 2.23 to 67.93.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.91% to 19.59.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.48% or 6.35 to $1340.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.81% or 0.76 to hit $41.16 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.43% or 0.63 to trade at $43.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.1082, while EUR/GBP rose 0.80% to 0.8430.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 96.60.
