France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.34%

Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Oil & Gas and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.34%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.26%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Vivendi SA (PA:VIV), which rose 1.35% or 0.23 points to trade at 16.93 at the close. Meanwhile, BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) added 0.97% or 0.42 points to end at 44.33 and Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) was up 0.91% or 0.35 points to 39.26 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which fell 4.10% or 0.56 points to trade at 12.99 at the close. Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) declined 3.48% or 3.13 points to end at 86.91 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) was down 2.85% or 2.28 points to 77.97.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Bollore SA (PA:BOLL) which rose 4.32% to 3.14, GTT (PA:GTT) which was up 2.23% to settle at 31.82 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which gained 2.21% to close at 3.34.

The worst performers were Casino Guichard (PA:CASP) which was down 4.19% to 50.76 in late trade, Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) which lost 4.10% to settle at 12.99 and Eurazeo (PA:EURA) which was down 3.59% to 58.80 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 330 to 290 and 126 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.53% to 22.69.

Gold for June delivery was up 0.25% or 3.15 to $1277.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.96% or 0.46 to hit $48.18 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.29 to trade at $49.26 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.1333, while EUR/GBP fell 0.42% to 0.7828.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 94.40.
