France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.15%

Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.15% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.16%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Valeo SA (PA:VLOF), which rose 3.08% or 1.31 points to trade at 43.95 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 2.85% or 0.150 points to end at 5.407 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) was up 2.71% or 0.33 points to 12.48 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Orange SA (PA:ORAN), which fell 2.15% or 0.31 points to trade at 14.05 at the close. Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) declined 2.05% or 0.56 points to end at 26.58 and Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) was down 0.90% or 0.27 points to 29.88.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Faurecia (PA:EPED) which rose 4.30% to 34.29, Plastic Omnium (PA:PLOF) which was up 3.84% to settle at 28.55 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which gained 3.08% to close at 43.95.

The worst performers were Neopost (PA:NPOS) which was down 3.47% to 24.21 in late trade, SEB SA (PA:SEBF) which lost 2.94% to settle at 119.05 and Numericable SFR SA (PA:SFRGR) which was down 2.91% to 20.320 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 369 to 281 and 109 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 0.11% to 18.81.

Gold for December delivery was up 0.04% or 0.50 to $1327.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.02% or 0.44 to hit $42.69 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $44.92 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.02% to 1.0987, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8367.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 97.17.
