Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Support Services, Food Producers and Beverages sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.58% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.61%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Solvay (BRU:SOLB), which rose 3.80% or 4.75 points to trade at 129.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Valeo (PARIS:VLOF) added 2.30% or 3.00 points to end at 133.60 and Danone SA (PARIS:DANO) was up 2.28% or 1.38 points to 61.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Saint Gobain (PARIS:SGOB), which fell 2.05% or 0.84 points to trade at 40.30 at the close. Sanofi (PARIS:SASY) declined 1.75% or 1.56 points to end at 87.54 and Technip (PARIS:TECF) was down 1.00% or 0.59 points to 58.31.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG (PARIS:GEPH) which rose 10.97% to 6.42, Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which was up 9.18% to settle at 62.890 and Bureau Veritas (PARIS:BVI) which gained 7.79% to close at 21.09.
The worst performers were Euronext (PARIS:ENX) which was down 3.72% to 32.72 in late trade, GTT (PARIS:GTT) which lost 2.73% to settle at 53.86 and Suez Environnement (PARIS:SEVI) which was down 2.59% to 15.450 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 559 to 348 and 46 ended unchanged.
Shares in Solvay (BRU:SOLB) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.80% or 4.75 to 129.65. Shares in Danone SA (PARIS:DANO) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.28% or 1.38 to 61.85.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.48% to 16.24 a new 1-month low.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.68% or 8.20 to $1209.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 3.12% or 1.59 to hit $49.40 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 1.08% or 0.67 to trade at $60.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.42% to 1.1200, while EUR/GBP fell 0.66% to 0.7268.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.15% at 95.33.
