Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Materials, Energy and Consumer Discretionary sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.76% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Canopy Growth Corp (TO:WEED), which rose 15.39% or 9.180 points to trade at 68.820 at the close. Meanwhile, Aphria Inc (TO:APH) added 9.13% or 1.550 points to end at 18.530 and BRP Inc. (TO:DOO) was up 2.64% or 1.80 points to 69.92 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tahoe Resources Inc (TO:THO), which fell 19.60% or 0.88 points to trade at 3.61 at the close. New Gold Inc (TO:NGD) declined 8.59% or 0.110 points to end at 1.170 and Kelt Exploration Ltd. (TO:KEL) was down 8.30% or 0.760 points to 8.400.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 721 to 371 and 114 ended unchanged.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 6.73% to 14.28 a new 3-months high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.77% or 9.30 to $1197.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.54% or 0.38 to hit $69.42 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.42% or 0.33 to trade at $77.82 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.67% to 0.7585, while CAD/EUR fell 0.40% to 0.6547.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 95.35.
