Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.86% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4), which rose 6.36% or 0.96 points to trade at 16.06 at the close. Meanwhile, Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) added 3.88% or 0.27 points to end at 7.22 and Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) was up 3.22% or 1.10 points to 35.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which fell 6.78% or 0.29 points to trade at 3.99 at the close. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) declined 5.19% or 0.12 points to end at 2.19 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) was down 5.14% or 1.81 points to 33.42.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 208 to 102 and 22 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.22% or 1.10 to 35.25.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.55% to 43.64.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.45% or 5.75 to $1279.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.38% or 0.66 to hit $48.38 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.67% or 0.90 to trade at $132.82 .
USD/BRL was down 0.26% to 3.4912, while EUR/BRL fell 0.34% to 3.9489.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 94.53.
