Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Electric Power and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.32%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Lojas Renner SA (SA:LREN3), which rose 5.00% or 5.22 points to trade at 109.72 at the close. Meanwhile, Hypermarcas SA (SA:HYPE3) added 3.40% or 0.70 points to end at 21.30 and Marcopolo SA (SA:POMO4) was up 3.15% or 0.09 points to 2.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were PDG Realty SA (SA:PDGR3), which fell 12.50% or 0.060 points to trade at 0.420 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 10.04% or 0.70 points to end at 6.27 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) was down 7.73% or 0.70 points to 8.35.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 176 to 102 and 8 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.18% to 32.67.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.62% or 7.40 to $1182.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 3.45% or 2.10 to hit $58.83 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.54% or 2.00 to trade at $131.68 .
USD/BRL was down 0.20% to 3.0276, while EUR/BRL fell 0.89% to 3.4117.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.57% at 94.73.
