Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3), which rose 5.86% or 0.98 points to trade at 17.71 at the close. Meanwhile, CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3) added 3.33% or 0.66 points to end at 20.46 and Banco Bradesco SA (SA:BBDC3) was up 2.24% or 0.66 points to 30.13 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which fell 5.52% or 0.30 points to trade at 5.13 at the close. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) declined 4.90% or 0.28 points to end at 5.43 and Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4) was down 4.75% or 0.39 points to 7.82.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 138 to 132 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.75% or 0.39 to 7.82.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.21% to 35.00.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.16% or 1.90 to $1183.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 2.30% or 1.12 to hit $47.56 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 0.40% or 0.53 to trade at $132.70 .
USD/BRL was down 1.20% to 3.1876, while EUR/BRL fell 1.88% to 3.4265.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.39% at 98.69.
