Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumption, Public Utilities and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.95% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which rose 5.68% or 0.96 points to trade at 17.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) added 4.08% or 0.570 points to end at 14.540 and Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) was up 3.59% or 0.55 points to 15.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which fell 2.47% or 0.24 points to trade at 9.47 at the close. Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) declined 2.08% or 0.11 points to end at 5.17 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was down 1.91% or 0.47 points to 24.18.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 185 to 179 and 21 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.93% to 31.17.
Gold for December delivery was up 2.08% or 27.65 to $1354.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.99% or 0.44 to hit $44.88 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 1.47% or 2.22 to trade at $153.57 .
USD/BRL was down 2.41% to 3.2047, while EUR/BRL fell 1.49% to 3.6046.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.95% at 94.83.
