Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Software & Computers, Technology and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 1.16%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BRU:BEKB), which rose 1.83% or 0.54 points to trade at 29.83 at the close. Meanwhile, Engie SA (PARIS:ENGIE) added 0.93% or 0.17 points to end at 17.91 and Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL) was up 0.87% or 0.14 points to 16.53 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were bpost NV (BRU:BPOST), which fell 8.83% or 2.33 points to trade at 24.00 at the close. KBC (BRU:KBC) declined 2.36% or 1.540 points to end at 63.800 and Umicore NV (BRU:UMI) was down 1.90% or 0.75 points to 38.67.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 119 to 43 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in NV Bekaert SA (BRU:BEKB) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.83% or 0.54 to 29.83.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.32% or 3.50 to $1093.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.92% or 0.41 to hit $44.25 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.02% or 0.51 to trade at $49.02 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.0969, while EUR/GBP rose 0.69% to 0.7090.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 97.63.
