Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Construction & Materials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were GDF Suez SA (PARIS:GSZ), which rose 4.06% or 0.69 points to trade at 17.57 at the close. Meanwhile, Delhaize Group (BRU:DELB) added 3.68% or 2.88 points to end at 81.19 and Telenet Group (BRU:TNET) was up 1.93% or 0.96 points to 50.82 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BRU:ABI), which fell 3.79% or 4.30 points to trade at 109.15 at the close. Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB) declined 2.42% or 3.00 points to end at 121.20 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BRU:ACKB) was down 1.22% or 1.70 points to 138.20.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 90 to 72 and 8 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.31% or 3.40 to $1089.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.23% or 0.11 to hit $48.90 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.31% or 0.17 to trade at $53.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.70% to 1.0907, while EUR/GBP fell 0.53% to 0.7005.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.59% at 97.80.
