Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Metals & Mining, Resources and Gold sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Brickworks Ltd (AX:BKW), which rose 7.65% or 1.000 points to trade at 14.080 at the close. Meanwhile, St Barbara Ltd (AX:SBM) added 5.26% or 0.130 points to end at 2.600 and Whitehaven Coal Ltd (AX:WHC) was up 5.17% or 0.140 points to 2.850 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Domino'S Pizza Enterprises Ltd (AX:DMP), which fell 3.10% or 1.740 points to trade at 54.330 at the close. Credit Corp Group Ltd (AX:CCP) declined 2.60% or 0.440 points to end at 16.490 and Syrah Res F (AX:SYR) was down 2.41% or 0.060 points to 2.430.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Australia Stock Exchange by 539 to 536 and 353 ended unchanged.
Shares in Syrah Res F (AX:SYR) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.41% or 0.060 to 2.430.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 4.13% to 9.307.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.00% or 0.05 to $1203.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $48.41 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.10% or 0.05 to trade at $51.40 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.09% to 0.7564, while AUD/JPY fell 0.12% to 86.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 101.23.
