I've been continually adding to my common stock position in Gastar throughout the past two months.. I am also retaining my contracts for the March19 1calls that I had bought over the summer.  The recent SEC filings concerning Gastar entering into a Chapter 11 bankruptcy agreement with Ares Management contains some very notable conditions..

stock is a very speculative buy below a dime, no reason to take this chance when you can buy the preferred stock below $2.6 and get a potential 3-4 times your money within six weeks, while the common stock could be worth zero.

Bryan Ali   I started trading few months back and bought a lot of GST stocks when it was trading at around $ 4-5. Do you suggest to sell the stocks or wait as per your theory on these stocks?

Varsha Pathak  that is entirely your responsibility to decide as it is your money at risk.. my conviction on the outlook of this security is obvious but that does not supersede your own due diligence

Varsha Pathak  Moreover, did you create an account on here solely to  attempt soliciting investment advice from me? smh

Well, the shaking of the Gastar tree went well beyond what I thought, but both the stock and probably the preferred a and b are buys, with the preferred screaming buys at these price levels... the stock is very risky, since a sale of company could fall short of the face value of the preferred and all other debt, but if that sale prices exceeds these amounts and there is a greater than 50/50 chance it will, the price could go back to a buck or more.  On the other hand, if price were to fall short, it is hard to believe that such a realized net price would not exceed paying at least half of the face value of the preferred and probably all.  Therefore, the preferred a  or b offer some five hundred percent expected returns from current price below $4, and that should be realized within a year, maybe within six months.

Anyone going to join in for this short term gem?  The market controllers are doing one last shaking of the tree before this stock moves back up and then up some more.. might hit a buck within five months.

Kind of split on this one between buying preferred or common stock.  Both are attractive with stock price in the 64 cent range coming off hopefully a long term bottom.  The preferred A and B are also very well priced with the A trading under 17 and the B under 19 with both destined to be trading up a buck or two within a week or so when dividend should be declared and past dividends declared and soon caught up.. . My price target for next week to a month is 70 to 80 cents on the common, 19 for the preferred A and 21 for the preferred B... lets see what happens.. . glta
