I recently read an article stating that recently, there is an all-time record amount of corn in the U.S. and yet, all the price is done is rise. It's egregious considering whenever there is a lower amount of corn produced than the year before, all grain prices surge because cattle farmers will have to use other grains to feed their cattle... and yet, all grain prices are soaring amid a stronger USD. Subsidies, bailouts, inheriting farmland that is worth all-time record amounts per acre -- never a day when a grain farmer isn't a millionaire all over again (even if they spent it all the day before).

Corn supply is at all-time highs. This means that the price should come down, just as if supply is low, the price always rises. Why is corn not trading in the $2.25 to $2.75 per bushel range? Ever since I read that report (just recently), corn prices have stabilized in the mid-$4s/bushel. In addition, other grain prices are on the rise as well. Why? Because if it is reported that soybeans or corn or rough rice etc. are in low supply, the prices of these other grains rise as a direct result of farmers claiming that they have to feed their livestock with other forms of grain. What we are seeing is a double-standard, allowing for farmers to walk away with subsidies and bailouts at taxpayers expense on top of rising market prices, which again, defy the fundamentals -- and this doesn't even factor in a stronger USD, which is also bearish for prices.

$4.5 corn is like $3-3.50 four years ago. It's called inflation, I seen you talk about land, you know it's investors that are raising the price and buying up the ground. Why does the price bother you? Did you short, investment is a gamble, win or loss.

Nope, not shorting. I'm a consumer, concerned about other Americans who actually work. Have you ever done that? Nope... you expect prices to be $100 per bushel while receiving bailouts from your orange messiah at taxpayers expense after you've already received subsidies and inherited the land you farm on in the first place. You don't get to have it both ways -- either there are reasons for higher prices (there is not, corn supplies are at all-time highs and we have a stronger USD) or you accept your taxpayer-funded welfare aka socialized agriculture. I'm not biting back at the hand that feeds me because I feed farmers first and always and consumers are not being fed because of these practices.

Bro you wouldnt last 10 min on a row crop farm. Please go back to reading The Atlantic and sniffing your own farts, because you are hopelessly clueless in regard to the industrial grain complex.

How bold of you to assume my past -- including both my upbringing (ag) and work history (on farms). Have you ever actually worked (performed manual labor)? If you truly did, then you would be in favor of what is best for consumers -- not investors let alone corporations. A vast majority of the population consists of people that are not rich, yet foot the bills for farmers both in higher food prices as well as in subsidies and taxpayer-funded bailouts etc. What happens when you can't get blood from a stone? In other words, what happens when your policies fail the average American? Who is it that you imagine you work for? Again, if you ever really worked and also know what it's like to go without it (to struggle), then you would understand the fundamentals right now are in favor of bearish prices for working Americans.
