Information technology firm Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS) recently announced that it has been awarded a contract by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) to transfer email communications of all 4,000 agency employees to a cloud-based platform.

This technological upgrade will help the company provide enterprise-wide cloud-based services, and offer more capabilities and flexibility. This new system will also prove to be cost efficient for OCC.

The five-year contract with OCC is worth approximately $11.2 million. Per the contract, Unisys will provide its expertise in analyzing, designing, transition planning and developing services to enable the OCC securely transfer all of its email services to the cloud.

In 2010, Unisys provided a similar service to the U.S. General Services Administration, making it the first federal agency to transfer all of its employees to a cloud-based email and collaboration platform. Since then the company has focused on similar projects for government agencies, which include the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Archives and Records Administration.

Unisys focuses on delivering efficient and cost-effective cloud services to government agencies, while reconfirming its position as a leader in providing up-to-date services to its public sector clients. Such prestigious contracts help the company to enhance its goodwill in the market which translates into superior top-line growth.

Earlier this year, the company was acknowledged as one of the first partners to have achieved AWS (Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) Web Services) Government Competency by AWS. This is a new component of the AWS Competency Program that recognizes companies that demonstrate technical expertise and achievements in delivering specialized cloud-based solutions to customers. Partnering with AWS has also helped Unisys expand its client base across various government agencies that are linked with AWS.
