Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Forestry & Paper sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 3.12%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Meggitt PLC (LONDON:MGGT), which rose 2.37% or 11.30 points to trade at 488.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Tui AG (LONDON:TUIT) fell 0.52% or 6.00 points to end at 1150.00 and SSE PLC (LONDON:SSE) was down 0.61% or 9.00 points to 1462.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN), which fell 9.98% or 14.8000 points to trade at 133.5000 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LONDON:AAL) declined 7.64% or 56.60 points to end at 684.40 and BHP Billiton PLC (LONDON:BLT) was down 6.71% or 76.00 points to 1056.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1716 to 492 and 438 ended unchanged.
Shares in Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN) fell to all time lows; falling 9.98% or 14.8000 to 133.5000.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.63% or 7.10 to $1139.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 7.72% or 3.80 to hit $45.40 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 8.58% or 4.64 to trade at $49.51 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.24% to 1.5307, while EUR/GBP rose 0.96% to 0.7378.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.52% at 95.46.
