Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Mining, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 2.44%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LONDON:HIK), which rose 0.30% or 7.00 points to trade at 2350.00 at the close. Meanwhile, International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (LONDON:ICAG) added 0.09% or 0.50 points to end at 565.00 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC (LONDON:RDSa) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 1659.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Anglo American PLC (LONDON:AAL), which fell 7.79% or 56.50 points to trade at 668.50 at the close. Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN) declined 5.96% or 7.8000 points to end at 123.1500 and Antofagasta PLC (LONDON:ANTO) was down 5.37% or 32.00 points to 564.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1618 to 490 and 430 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.37% or 4.20 to $1120.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.09% or 0.51 to hit $46.24 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.39% or 0.70 to trade at $49.98 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.39% to 1.5198, while EUR/GBP rose 0.45% to 0.7323.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 96.36.
