Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Life Insurance/Assurance and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Aberdeen Asset Management PLC (LON:ADN), which rose 6.99% or 18.90 points to trade at 289.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 5.99% or 30.90 points to end at 546.50 and InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG) was up 4.55% or 124.00 points to 2850.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aviva PLC (LON:AV), which fell 2.56% or 12.700 points to trade at 482.700 at the close. Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) declined 2.04% or 39.00 points to end at 1876.00 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) was down 1.98% or 125.00 points to 6200.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1367 to 736 and 474 ended unchanged.
Gold for April delivery was down 1.31% or 16.50 to $1242.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 3.90% or 1.50 to hit $37.00 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.65% or 1.07 to trade at $39.32 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.45% to 1.4318, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.7753.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 96.57.
