Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which rose 6.32% or 76.000 points to trade at 1279.000 at the close. Meanwhile, Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 3.70% or 18.00 points to end at 504.00 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) was up 3.11% or 22.50 points to 746.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were GKN PLC (LON:GKN), which fell 3.06% or 8.70 points to trade at 275.30 at the close. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) declined 3.04% or 5.80 points to end at 184.90 and Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) was down 2.64% or 68.00 points to 2507.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1072 to 1070 and 359 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.58% or 7.70 to $1343.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 3.72% or 1.74 to hit $45.06 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 3.88% or 1.88 to trade at $46.59 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.48% to 1.3182, while EUR/GBP rose 0.91% to 0.8427.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.39% at 96.17.
