Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.19%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Aviva PLC (LON:AV), which rose 6.46% or 33.00 points to trade at 544.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Capita PLC (LON:CPI) added 4.67% or 24.50 points to end at 549.00 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) was up 4.43% or 81.00 points to 1910.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LON:MRW), which fell 6.56% or 16.20 points to trade at 230.80 at the close. BHP Billiton PLC (LON:BLT) declined 5.77% or 76.50 points to end at 1249.50 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was down 4.61% or 55.50 points to 1149.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1120 to 837 and 408 ended unchanged.
Shares in Aviva PLC (LON:AV) rose to 52-week highs; rising 6.46% or 33.00 to 544.00.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.49% or 5.95 to $1203.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.43% or 1.22 to hit $49.06 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.32% or 1.23 to trade at $51.88 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.05% to 1.2163, while EUR/GBP rose 0.45% to 0.8702.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 101.92.
