Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Forestry & Paper and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 declined 1.97% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Intertek Group (LONDON:ITRK), which rose 2.06% or 50.00 points to trade at 2472.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Randgold Resources (LONDON:RRS) added 0.59% or 26.00 points to end at 4400.00 and Fresnillo Plc (LONDON:FRES) was up 0.36% or 2.50 points to 700.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were TUI AG (LONDON:TUIT), which fell 7.10% or 79.00 points to trade at 1034.00 at the close. International Airlines Group (LONDON:ICAG) declined 4.14% or 21.30 points to end at 493.20 and Standard Life Plc (LONDON:SL) was down 3.74% or 17.80 points to 458.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 2459 to 282 and 303 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.34% or 4.00 to $1177.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.95% or 1.16 to hit $58.47 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.02% or 1.27 to trade at $61.98 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.19% to 1.5780, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.7090.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 95.30.
