Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Mining and Aerospace & Defense sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 fell 1.58% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Land Securities Group Plc (LONDON:LAND), which rose 1.63% or 20.00 points to trade at 1250.00 at the close. Meanwhile, easyJet Plc (LONDON:EZJ) added 0.89% or 14.00 points to end at 1590.00 and International Airlines Group (LONDON:ICAG) was up 0.79% or 3.80 points to 488.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Glencore Xstrata Plc (LONDON:GLEN), which fell 6.87% or 17.00 points to trade at 230.60 at the close. Anglo American (LONDON:AAL) declined 5.76% or 50.90 points to end at 832.30 and Rolls-Royce Holdings Plc (LONDON:RR) was down 5.36% or 43.00 points to 759.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 2075 to 551 and 426 ended unchanged.

Gold for August delivery was down 0.87% or 10.10 to $1156.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.75% or 0.93 to hit $52.08 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.02% or 0.58 to trade at $56.58 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.03% to 1.5447, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.7103.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.64% at 97.05.
