Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Aerospace & Defense, Mining and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 4.64% or 39.50 points to trade at 890.00 at the close. Meanwhile, AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN) added 2.28% or 105.00 points to end at 4710.50 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 2.27% or 6.45 points to 290.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Micro Focus International (LON:MCRO), which fell 5.65% or 149.00 points to trade at 2490.00 at the close. Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK) declined 3.89% or 66.00 points to end at 1630.00 and GKN PLC (LON:GKN) was down 1.73% or 6.20 points to 352.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1267 to 662 and 456 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.75% or 9.25 to $1217.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.99% or 0.46 to hit $45.97 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.95% or 0.47 to trade at $48.87 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.05% to 1.2944, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8404.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 99.46.
