Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Engineering, Aerospace & Defense and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.43% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Informa Plc (LON:INF), which rose 5.84% or 38.00 points to trade at 688.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Capita PLC (LON:CPI) added 4.30% or 23.50 points to end at 569.50 and Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) was up 2.58% or 80.00 points to 3175.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY), which fell 1.86% or 1.36 points to trade at 71.74 at the close. Shire PLC (LON:SHP) declined 1.83% or 86.50 points to end at 4651.50 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) was down 1.80% or 19.00 points to 1035.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1000 to 921 and 476 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.73% or 9.11 to $1265.51 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.04% or 0.51 to hit $49.41 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.72% or 0.37 to trade at $51.83 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.17% to 1.2791, while EUR/GBP rose 0.83% to 0.8733.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 97.41.
