Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Industrial Metals & Mining and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.40%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 4.55% or 48.50 points to trade at 1114.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) added 4.50% or 120.500 points to end at 2796.000 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 3.60% or 8.55 points to 246.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB), which fell 3.75% or 144.00 points to trade at 3699.00 at the close. Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK) declined 3.31% or 46.00 points to end at 1346.00 and GKN PLC (LON:GKN) was down 2.88% or 9.30 points to 313.90.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1237 to 1069 and 421 ended unchanged.

Gold for December delivery was up 0.76% or 9.55 to $1273.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.35% or 0.68 to hit $49.84 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.38% or 0.71 to trade at $50.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.69% to 1.2155, while EUR/GBP rose 0.73% to 0.8957.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 98.75.
