Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Mining and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS), which rose 3.71% or 215.00 points to trade at 6005.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 3.03% or 39.00 points to end at 1330.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 3.03% or 33.00 points to 1122.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which fell 2.59% or 4.40 points to trade at 165.60 at the close. Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB) declined 2.58% or 93.00 points to end at 3511.00 and Direct Line Insurance Group PLC (LON:DLGD) was down 2.48% or 8.80 points to 346.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1349 to 939 and 422 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.37% or 4.45 to $1213.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 4.03% or 1.87 to hit $48.23 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 4.10% or 1.92 to trade at $48.78 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.13% to 1.2483, while EUR/GBP fell 1.09% to 0.8498.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 101.10.
