Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , Glass and Semiconductor sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 1.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hannstar Touch (TW:3049), which rose 10.00% or 0.60 points to trade at 6.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Weltrend Semic (TW:2436) added 9.97% or 1.70 points to end at 18.75 and Champion Micro (TW:3257) was up 9.94% or 4.05 points to 44.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Acbel (TW:6282), which fell 6.65% or 1.80 points to trade at 25.25 at the close. Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) declined 6.16% or 0.61 points to end at 9.29 and Space Shuttle (TW:2440) was down 5.81% or 0.45 points to 7.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 569 to 269 and 5 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.57% or 0.68 to $42.37 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 1.03% or 0.47 to hit $45.15 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.33% or 3.50 to trade at $1066.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.17% to 32.643, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.1966.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 99.83.
