Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , Electricity and Optoelectronic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.94%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Transasia (TW:6702), which rose 9.09% or 0.09 points to trade at 1.08 at the close. Meanwhile, Kindom Constr (TW:2520) added 8.61% or 1.70 points to end at 21.45 and Evertex (TW:1470) was up 6.22% or 1.15 points to 19.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pec (TW:4916), which fell 9.89% or 3.70 points to trade at 33.70 at the close. Genius (TW:3406) declined 9.79% or 11.50 points to end at 106.00 and Gemtek Tech (TW:4906) was down 6.45% or 1.65 points to 23.95.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 608 to 169 and 91 ended unchanged.
Shares in Kindom Constr (TW:2520) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 8.61% or 1.70 to 21.45.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.53% or 0.28 to $53.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.36% or 0.20 to hit $55.41 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.49% or 5.55 to trade at $1142.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.05% to 31.978, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2176.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 102.62.
