Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , Semiconductor and Electronics sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.80%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Enlight Corp (TW:2438), which rose 9.94% or 0.87 points to trade at 9.62 at the close. Meanwhile, Gamma Optical (TW:3557) added 9.88% or 0.600 points to end at 6.670 and Arima Communic (TW:8101) was up 9.86% or 0.42 points to 4.68 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Transasia (TW:6702), which fell 9.80% or 0.30 points to trade at 2.76 at the close. Roo Hsing (TW:4414) declined 7.91% or 1.55 points to end at 18.05 and Msi (TW:2377) was down 5.23% or 4.30 points to 77.90.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 461 to 286 and 122 ended unchanged.
Shares in Transasia (TW:6702) fell to all time lows; falling 9.80% or 0.30 to 2.76. Shares in Gamma Optical (TW:3557) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.88% or 0.600 to 6.670.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.20% or 0.10 to $50.96 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.57% or 0.31 to hit $53.63 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.51% or 5.95 to trade at $1175.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.14% to 31.930, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2167.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 100.86.
