Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Kpt Industries (TW:1805), which rose 10.00% or 1.10 points to trade at 12.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Tung Kai Tech (TW:3018) added 8.66% or 2.35 points to end at 29.50 and Waffer Tech (TW:6235) was up 7.29% or 1.55 points to 22.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Leadtek (TW:2465), which fell 9.96% or 0.71 points to trade at 6.42 at the close. Tai-I (TW:1613) declined 9.90% or 0.310 points to end at 2.820 and Genius (TW:3406) was down 8.79% or 27.00 points to 280.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 451 to 317 and 107 ended unchanged.
Shares in Kpt Industries (TW:1805) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 10.00% or 1.10 to 12.10. Shares in Leadtek (TW:2465) fell to 3-years lows; losing 9.96% or 0.71 to 6.42. Shares in Tung Kai Tech (TW:3018) rose to 3-years highs; rising 8.66% or 2.35 to 29.50.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.20% or 0.10 to $51.05 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.15% or 0.08 to hit $54.28 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.52% or 6.45 to trade at $1254.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.49% to 30.540, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2268.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 100.36.
