Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Computers & Peripherals and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jentech (TW:3653), which rose 9.99% or 4.95 points to trade at 54.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Hong Yi Fiber (TW:1452) added 9.90% or 2.00 points to end at 22.20 and Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) was up 9.73% or 1.10 points to 12.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Taliang (TW:3167), which fell 4.28% or 1.40 points to trade at 31.30 at the close. Ritek (TW:2349) declined 3.85% or 0.160 points to end at 4.000 and Solartech Ener (TW:3561) was down 3.71% or 0.65 points to 16.85.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 407 to 335 and 110 ended unchanged.
Shares in Jentech (TW:3653) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.99% or 4.95 to 54.50. Shares in Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.73% or 1.10 to 12.40.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.35% or 0.14 to $40.20 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.45% or 0.19 to hit $42.33 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.25 to trade at $1359.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.00% to 31.629, while TWD/CNY rose 0.19% to 0.2112.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 95.58.
