Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Iron & Steel sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.08% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Young Optics (TW:3504), which rose 10.00% or 3.65 points to trade at 40.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Kpt Industries (TW:1805) added 10.00% or 1.20 points to end at 13.20 and In-Win Dev (TW:6117) was up 9.87% or 1.85 points to 20.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Inventec Besta (TW:8201), which fell 7.12% or 1.20 points to trade at 15.65 at the close. Biostar (TW:2399) declined 7.08% or 0.80 points to end at 10.50 and Rexon Indu (TW:1515) was down 6.44% or 1.45 points to 21.05.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 452 to 302 and 121 ended unchanged.
Shares in In-Win Dev (TW:6117) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.87% or 1.85 to 20.60.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.59% or 0.30 to $51.15 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.70% or 0.37 to hit $53.30 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.19% or 2.40 to trade at $1281.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.01% to 30.413, while TWD/CNY rose 0.13% to 0.2265.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 99.61.
