Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Information Technology, Power & Energy and Construction & Engineering sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.22% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL), which rose 20.00% or 0.200 points to trade at 1.200 at the close. Meanwhile, Adam Investments Ltd (CM:ADAM) added 16.67% or 0.100 points to end at 0.700 and Ceylon Tea Brokers PLC (CM:CEYL) was up 12.50% or 0.500 points to 4.500 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC (CM:SWAD), which fell 24.81% or 3350.00 points to trade at 10150.00 at the close. Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO) declined 14.43% or 178.70 points to end at 1060.00 and Royal Palms Beach Hotels PLC (CM:RPBH) was down 10.98% or 2.90 points to 23.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 86 to 86 and 60 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ceylon Tea Brokers PLC (CM:CEYL) rose to 52-week highs; up 12.50% or 0.500 to 4.500.
Crude oil for September delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $46.92 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $49.35 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.14% or 1.78 to trade at $1247.28 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 1.36% to 199.945, while USD/LKR rose 1.06% to 153.650.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 93.95.
