Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Construction & Engineering, Telecoms and Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.23%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were PC House PLC (CM:PCHO), which rose 50.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.200 at the close. Meanwhile, Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND) added 13.84% or 237.00 points to end at 1950.00 and Lanka Ventures PLC (CM:LVEN) was up 10.84% or 4.50 points to 46.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nation Lanka Finance PLC (CM:CSF), which fell 11.11% or 0.30 points to trade at 2.40 at the close. Bimputh Finance PLC (CM:BIMP) declined 8.06% or 4.40 points to end at 50.20 and Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) was down 7.14% or 0.10 points to 1.30.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 146 to 69 and 16 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nation Lanka Finance PLC (CM:CSF) fell to all time lows; falling 11.11% or 0.30 to 2.40. Shares in Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND) rose to 52-week highs; rising 13.84% or 237.00 to 1950.00.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 2.54% or 1.51 to $58.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 2.92% or 1.85 to hit $61.41 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.29% or 3.40 to trade at $1176.60 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.71% to 212.070, while USD/LKR rose 0.87% to 135.040.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 95.79.
