Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Power & Energy and Diversified Holdings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Singer Industries PLC (CM:SINI), which rose 23.64% or 34.40 points to trade at 179.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Equity Two PLC (CM:ETWO) added 13.21% or 5.60 points to end at 48.00 and Convenience Foods (Lanka) PLC (CM:SOY) was up 13.00% or 39.00 points to 339.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Huejay International Investments PLC (CM:HUEJ), which fell 17.00% or 6.80 points to trade at 33.20 at the close. Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) declined 11.11% or 0.100 points to end at 0.800 and City Housing and Real Estate Company PLC (CM:CHOU) was down 8.05% or 0.70 points to 8.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 103 to 73 and 43 ended unchanged.
Shares in Huejay International Investments PLC (CM:HUEJ) fell to 3-years lows; falling 17.00% or 6.80 to 33.20. Shares in Equity Two PLC (CM:ETWO) rose to 52-week lows; up 13.21% or 5.60 to 48.00. Shares in Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) fell to 5-year lows; losing 11.11% or 0.100 to 0.800.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 5.84% or 2.64 to $47.87 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 6.38% or 3.02 to hit $50.34 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.13% or 1.55 to trade at $1189.25 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.10% to 185.075, while USD/LKR unchanged 0.00% to 148.185.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 101.16.
