Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Power & Energy, Telecoms and Beverages & Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which rose 20.00% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.6000 at the close. Meanwhile, Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) added 12.50% or 0.100 points to end at 0.900 and C W Mackie PLC (CM:CWM) was up 10.42% or 4.70 points to 49.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL), which fell 19.87% or 297.60 points to trade at 1200.00 at the close. Colombo Fort Investments PLC (CM:CFI) declined 13.33% or 8.00 points to end at 52.00 and Sathosa Motors PLC (CM:SMOT) was down 9.56% or 44.40 points to 420.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 96 to 69 and 64 ended unchanged.
Shares in Colombo Fort Investments PLC (CM:CFI) fell to 5-year lows; losing 13.33% or 8.00 to 52.00.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.43% or 0.94 to $64.77 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.53% or 1.14 to hit $73.60 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.73% or 9.30 to trade at $1265.20 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 1.07% to 209.015, while USD/LKR fell 0.31% to 159.410.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.40% at 95.16.
