Investing.com – Poland stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Energy and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 declined 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SA (WA:BHW), which rose 2.78% or 2.05 points to trade at 75.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) added 2.76% or 0.85 points to end at 31.64 and Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER) was up 2.21% or 1.14 points to 52.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which fell 13.08% or 2.25 points to trade at 14.95 at the close. Energa SA (WA:ENGP) declined 4.93% or 0.54 points to end at 10.42 and KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH) was down 3.22% or 2.11 points to 63.42.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 294 to 232 and 159 ended unchanged.
Shares in Energa SA (WA:ENGP) fell to all time lows; down 4.93% or 0.54 to 10.42.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.87% or 0.42 to $48.73 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.69% or 0.34 to hit $49.62 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.20% or 2.55 to trade at $1274.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.59% to 4.3986, while USD/PLN rose 0.95% to 3.9006.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 94.69.
