Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Insurance, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which rose 3.03% or 1.17 points to trade at 39.41 at the close. Meanwhile, Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 0.90% or 0.010 points to end at 1.120 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was up 0.15% or 0.01 points to 6.51 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which fell 4.48% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.640 at the close. Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB) declined 4.42% or 0.05 points to end at 1.08 and Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) was down 2.26% or 0.070 points to 3.030.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 15 to 15 and 57 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.13% or 0.06 to $47.39 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.16% or 0.08 to hit $49.59 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.27% or 3.55 to trade at $1328.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 8.11% to 355.320, while USD/NGN fell 0.47% to 317.500.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.53% at 95.18.
