Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Mining and Plantation sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI fell 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Sapurakencana Petroleum Bhd (KL:SKPE), which rose 3.45% or 0.08 points to trade at 2.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Petronas Dagangan Bhd (KL:PETR) added 1.14% or 0.22 points to end at 19.60 and Genting Bhd (KL:GENT) was up 0.57% or 0.05 points to 8.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR), which fell 1.55% or 0.05 points to trade at 3.18 at the close. Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB) declined 1.27% or 0.07 points to end at 5.43 and Genting Malaysia Bhd (KL:GENM) was down 1.20% or 0.05 points to 4.12.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 59 to 44.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 4.23% or 2.08 to $51.29 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 3.83% or 2.17 to hit $58.65 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 1.09% or 13.10 to trade at $1210.10 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.49% to 2.6770, while USD/MYR fell 0.37% to 3.6637.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.70% at 96.41.
