Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Insurance, Banking and Warehousing sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 1.96%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were KDDI Corp. (TOKYO:9433), which rose 4.39% or 115.5 points to trade at 2747.5 at the close. Meanwhile, Pioneer Corp. (TOKYO:6773) added 3.69% or 10.0 points to end at 281.0 and Seven & i Holdings Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:3382) was up 1.82% or 92.0 points to 5158.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NKSJ Holdings, Inc. (TOKYO:8630), which fell 6.36% or 239.5 points to trade at 3526.5 at the close. The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Co. (TOKYO:8750) declined 6.23% or 125.0 points to end at 1882.0 and JFE Holdings, Inc. (TOKYO:5411) was down 5.39% or 101.5 points to 1781.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1569 to 307.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.13% to 28.84.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.04% or 0.49 to $46.41 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.51% or 0.25 to hit $48.83 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.93% or 10.40 to trade at $1127.40 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.25% to 119.70, while EUR/JPY fell 0.56% to 136.48.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 94.69.
