Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Warehousing, Transport and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.42%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were SUMCO Corp. (TOKYO:3436), which rose 8.61% or 109.0 points to trade at 1375.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Sekisui House, Ltd. (TOKYO:1928) added 5.15% or 96.5 points to end at 1971.5 and Nisshin Steel Holdings Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:5413) was up 4.60% or 57.0 points to 1295.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4911), which fell 4.84% or 160.0 points to trade at 3143.5 at the close. The Kansai Electric Power Co. (TOKYO:9503) declined 4.66% or 79.0 points to end at 1614.5 and Meiji Holdings Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:2269) was down 4.54% or 940.0 points to 19770.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1001 to 877.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.02% to 17.91.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.12% or 0.51 to $44.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.86% or 0.44 to hit $50.58 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.59% or 6.50 to trade at $1097.60 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.23% to 124.92, while EUR/JPY fell 0.27% to 136.98.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.39% at 97.61.
