Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Transport, Banking and Rubber sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (TOKYO:9502), which rose 4.46% or 86.0 points to trade at 2015.0 at the close. Meanwhile, NTT Docomo, Inc. (TOKYO:9437) added 3.94% or 88.5 points to end at 2337.0 and JTEKT Corp. (TOKYO:6473) was up 3.82% or 87.0 points to 2367.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. (TOKYO:8411), which fell 3.25% or 9.1 points to trade at 270.5 at the close. Bridgestone Corp. (TOKYO:5108) declined 3.25% or 168.0 points to end at 5007.0 and Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:6976) was down 3.12% or 58.0 points to 1803.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1002 to 880 and 1 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.16% to 18.16.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.46% or 0.28 to $60.48 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.44% or 0.28 to hit $65.17 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.04% or 0.50 to trade at $1189.20 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.21% to 124.52, while EUR/JPY rose 0.08% to 136.46.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 97.25.
